A dedication to George Foster

George joined the staff at Openshaw Tech in 1972 from the RAF Sealand, North Wales where he was a Flight Sergeant/Chief Engineer in Electronic Maintenance.
After serving in the forces for some 20 years, and travelling round the globe many times, he retired from the services and always said there was nowhere more beautiful than Wales. His initial appointment at the College was in the Telecoms Department teaching both Maths and Theory but quickly moved over to the Radio Section.
This enabled him to teach his speciality which was Radio Communications. He was a keen Radio Amateur and CB fanatic.George was a person who could get on with everybody and was well liked. He was always willing and available to give his time to help both students and staff with any difficulties they may encounter.
George travelled to the College each day from his home in Hawarden, Clwyd where he lived with his wife Beryl. Although he was popular and got on well with all of his colleagues he was still a very private person. Unfortunately in the last few years ill health took its toll and he relied heavily on Beryl to care for him.
This is possibly the reason why he didnít attend the College Reunions. George passed away sometime in May but we have only just been informed due to a communication problem. On behalf of all his colleagues and friends from Openshaw Tech we send our sincere condolences and best wishes to Beryl. .
