A tribute to Jackson Corrie
by Jim Hill
When attending the Sept 2007 reunion I was disappointed to learn that Jackson Corrie
had passed away at his cottage in his beloved Lake District.
Jackson was a leading light in student recruitment and councelling.
A genuine father figure who never failed to offer and provide moral
and practical support to students in need. His pastoral care extended
way beyond the College walls and curriculum, selflessly imparting
his passion for outdoor pursuits in the glorious British countryside
to successive generations of students from home and abroad.
He will forever remain the foremost recollection of Openshaw
for the majority of his protégés.
